Easy Pumpkin Spice Latte

If there’s one thing I love about fall it’s pumpkin spice latte! Seriously, I wait all year long for autumn so that I have every excuse in the world to have one every single day! There is just something so satisfying about having a hot cup of PSL that really gets me going for the day.

Why I Love Making It at Home

And while I love a good coffee shop PSL, sometimes it’s just way easier and healthier and cheaper to make it at home. I can control the sweetness, the spice level, and how creamy I want it. I’ve played around with so many versions over the years, but this one is hands, down the easiest pumpkin spice latte recipe that still tastes so amazing.

This is my all time favourite simple and easy pumpkin spice recipe when I want that cozy cafe vibe, but too lazy to go out!

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup milk
  2. 2 tablespoons pumpkin purée
  3. 1 tablespoon sugar (adjust to taste)
  4. 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  5. 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  6. 1 shot (1–2 oz) espresso or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
  7. Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
  8. Extra sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon (for garnish)

Ingredient Breakdown

Milk This is the base of your latte. You can use whole milk for a rich, creamy texture or go with oat, almond, or soy milk if you prefer dairy free.

Pumpkin Purée This gives your latte that real pumpkin flavor. Just make sure you’re using plain pumpkin purée and not the sweetened pumpkin pie filling.

Sugar Adds the perfect touch of sweetness. Feel free to adjust based on your preference or swap in maple syrup, honey, or your favorite sweetener.

Pumpkin Pie Spice The cozy fall flavor we all crave. It usually includes cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves. If you don’t have it, you can totally make your own blend.

Vanilla Extract Gives a warm, smooth flavor that makes everything taste extra cozy and café level good.

Espresso or Strong Coffee This brings the bold coffee flavor. Go for espresso if you want it strong or use regular brewed coffee if that’s what you have on hand.

Whipped Cream Topping it with whipped cream makes it feel like a true treat. It’s creamy, sweet, and the perfect finishing touch.

Extra Pumpkin Pie Spice or Cinnamon A sprinkle on top makes it look and smell amazing. It gives you that little extra pumpkin spice magic in every sip.

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the milk, pumpkin purée, sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla. Heat until hot but don’t boil.
  2. Remove from heat and use a milk frother or whisk to make it a bit foamy (optional).
  3. Pour the pumpkin milk mixture in to a mug , then pour the espresso in.
  4. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of spice.

Easy Pumpkin Spice Latte Alternatives

We all have our preferences and restrictions so off course there are alternatives to make your PSL the most enjoyable for you. Swap out ingredients and make it your own if you’d like.

Swap the milk Try oat milk, almond milk, coconut milk, or soy milk depending on your flavor preference or dietary needs. Oat milk makes it super creamy and is my fav.

Change the sweetener Instead of regular sugar, use maple syrup, honey, brown sugar, or even a sugar free sweetener like stevia.

No pumpkin purée? Use a little extra pumpkin pie spice and maybe a touch of maple syrup to still get that cozy fall flavor.

Make it iced Let the pumpkin milk mixture cool, then pour it over ice with your espresso or cold brew. Top with cold foam if you want to get super fancy.

Go decaf Perfect for a cozy night in. Use decaf espresso or coffee and still get all the pumpkin spice goodness without the caffeine.

Add flavored syrup A splash of vanilla, caramel, or cinnamon dolce syrup can take it to the next level.

Top it differently Instead of whipped cream, try a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar, a dash of nutmeg, or even a cinnamon stick for a cute touch.

This is such a cozy, creamy, pumpkiny latte that you’ll come back to every fall. Bring the PSL shop vibe to your home without ever leaving your kitchen. I swear this tastes just like the real thing, and it makes your whole house smell like fall. I’ve been making it nonstop and I never get tired of it.

If you’re as PSL obsessed as I am, go ahead and save this recipe, it’ll be your go to all season long.

Maple syrup or honey also works beautifully in place of regular sugar if you want something a little more natural. For an iced version, let the pumpkin milk mixture cool down, then pour it over ice and use cold brew or chilled espresso.
